Château La Fleur Morange Mathilde Saint Emilion Grand cru 2 Vin
Ch La Fleur Morange Cuvée Mathilde 2009 St-Émilion 1 Apr 2010 16.5 2013 - 2018 Very deep crimson. Exotic, unusual, hedonistic perfumes. Very supple with extremely fine tannins (case of the cashmeres?) into which an amazing amount of work has obviously gone. Long and hedonistic. Very charming already. Though there is just a suggestion of greenness on the finish… But super-smooth and well mannered. Meaty, complex and interesting. Nervy.
Ch La Fleur Morange Cuvée Mathilde 2008 St-Émilion 19 May 2009 16.5 2012 - 2018
Very dark glamorous crimson. Intense, pretty ripe and very intense nose, Really sweet start - gorgeous stuff. Vibrant and glowing. Massively ripe fruit with lots of ripe, very fine tannin underneath. After tasting this, I can't wait to taste the grand vin!
Ch La Fleur Morange Mathilde 2014 St-Émilion 29 Mar 2015 16 2018 - 2023
100% Merlot. 50% new oak and 20% second-year oak.
Very dense and fresh. Lots of balance and life though quite a bit of acid. Long, big, fresh.
Ch La Fleur Morange Mathilde 2007 St-Émilion 17 Apr 2014 16.5 2012 - 2018 The second wine from this topnotch Julien-family-owned 3.3-ha plot of 60- to 100-year-old vines. 500 cases of wine filled after the wine is aged for just six months in Taransaud and Darnajou barrels. A very interesting property.
Dark crimson. Supposedly a weak vintage but this is a fine, very savoury well-balanced wine. So appetising... Yet rich and indisputably Merlot. Cool but there is nothing also-ran about this wine, despite the vintage. Chapeau!
